How the work goes

Brief Therapy for hard days and heavy thoughts

I provide brief counseling when exhaustion, fear, sadness, or racing thoughts have become hard to carry alone. In our sessions, I’ll listen closely, ask direct questions, and help sort out what’s getting in the way.

How I use it

I start with conversation and clinical assessment, then keep checking what is changing and what still needs attention. For some people, the work stays focused on brief counseling and practical support in the room. For others, it may also include medication management or pharmacogenetic testing when medication selection needs more information. I explain the options, answer your questions, and revisit the plan as I learn more about what is affecting you.

I use conversation and clinical assessment to understand what’s happening and what’s been hard to carry.

Who it tends to suit

People often come in feeling worn down by thoughts that keep running, sleep that never feels restful, or moods that swing the day off course. Some are carrying sadness, fear, guilt, or emptiness that’s started to shape how they get through life. Others are dealing with pressure that has turned into constant strain, or focus problems that make daily demands harder to manage. Some want support while they think through medication, while others want a clear place to talk through what’s been building up.

  • I’m tired of carrying this by myself.
  • My thoughts keep racing when I want them to settle.
  • I’m not sleeping well, and it’s affecting everything.
  • I keep feeling overwhelmed by small things.

What the first sessions look like

The first visits focus on what’s been happening, what feels most urgent, and what you want me to understand first. I’ll ask about your symptoms, health history, and what has or has not helped before, so we can decide together what should be part of the plan.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I reply as soon as I can, usually within 1 business day.

Questions people ask

What happens in brief therapy with you?

We talk about what’s been hardest lately, what you’ve already tried, and what you want help sorting out. I use that conversation, along with clinical assessment, to shape what we focus on next.

Can brief therapy be part of medication management?

Yes, some people want both in the same care plan. I can use brief counseling alongside medication follow-up when that makes sense for what you’re dealing with.

Do I need to know exactly what’s wrong before I come in?

No, you do not need to have it fully sorted out before we meet. I’ll help you describe what’s been happening and what feels most pressing right now.

Will you ask about my past treatment?

Yes, because what has or has not helped before matters. I use that history to understand your symptoms and what options may fit best.
